HIKING + BIKING

Explore the Cardon Cacti Forest:
This is the largest Cacti forest in the world and is native to northwestern Mexico, including the Baja Peninsula. Walk through the “forest” of huge plants (some grow up to 60 feet tall, and weigh up to 25 tons), and read about their many medicinal properties along the way.

To find the forest, head south out of La Ventana on Corredor Isla Cerralvo. Search a Map for the Ventusbay Hotel, which is tucked away inside the forested area. There is a network of sandy tracks around the forest, which can be used for hiking, mountain biking, or driving.

Hike or Bike the Trails:
The biking here is world class! Plus, Hike the Punta Gorda trail. To get there, follow the dirt road that continues up the hill after Hot Springs Beach. Drive for 10 minutes past a few houses, eventually driving alongside the beach again, until you reach a small hut, and find an area to park on the left.

Key Tips:
Use the Trail Forks app to explore the many mountain biking and hiking trails in the area.

THE SEA OF CORTEZ

Fishing, Diving, & Seafaris

Wake up early and board the boat with a local guide, perfect your fishing skills, eat lunch on the beautiful Cerralvo Island, and soak in the incredible views.

There are many local companies to choose from when it comes to exploring this majestic UNESCO World Heritage Site. Check out the local list here and book your adventure!

KITEBOARDING + SURF

April is typically the end of the wind season, but you’re welcome to browse kite surfing lessons! Check out a few local companies for kiteboarding and wing foiling lessons!

Surfing: Cerritos Beach (two hours from La Ventana) is a great place to learn, with several surf schools and rentals on the beach. Cerritos can be fun for intermediate and advanced surfing, but Todos Santos, Pescadero, and the East Cape usually deliver better waves. More info Cerritos HERE.
